Wednesday was an eventful day: Tiffany and David started their journey back home to Kansas City, Jim had the day off, and both dogs had appointments at their respective veterinarians.
Sai Lo needed vaccinations, micro-chipping, and heartworm testing. He was a super-star at the vet. He was quiet and patient while waiting to go into the exam room. There was one other dog in the waiting area with him and while he was mildly curious, he wasn't obnoxious. He was brave and gentle while getting jabbed three times with needles of varying sizes.
Johnny had a follow-up visit for a stubborn urinary tract infection. He was a mess at the vet. He sat while we were in the waiting area, but he was quivering with excitement. The walk through the narrow corridor to get to the exam room - filled with the other waiting animals - was a disappointment for both of us. For him, because I wouldn't let him say hello to each and every one of them - though he couldn't help a quick and dirty sniff a few times*. For me, because he was pulling and generally ignoring me. Ugh. Once he got into the exam room, he was a dream. He did everything Dr. Lim asked of him including an intimate inspection of some very private parts. It looks like some more obedience practice is in order.
Later in the afternoon we took them to the off-leash area at Bishan Park for some playtime. They played until they were exhausted, rested a few minutes and then played some more. Sai Lo furiously dug holes in the sand, covering Johnny and anyone else foolish enough to step into range.
Sai Lo's heartworm test came back negative so we got him some Revolution. After I applied it between his shoulder blades, he applied it to Johnny, the couch, and me. Next month he goes straight into his cage until it dries.
All in all it was a good day for our little family.
*You know the old adage, "You learn something new every day?" Well, that day Johnny learned that some cats take great offense to being sniffed, no matter how quick and dirty.
so do you think johnny the fox will behave differentl for his next visit to the vet? Well done to sai Lo for his first visit. So how was beamer babe at the end if this visit? Was it two dogs two vets one day and several glasses of wine?
